At the 40th China Langfang International Economic and Trade Fair InternationalCross-border E-commerceDevelopment Forum, Lü Daliang, spokesperson of the General Administration of Customs and Director of the Department of Statistical Analysis, revealed a new milestone for Chinas cross-border e-commerce. In 2022, Chinas cross-border e-commerceimport and exportscale exceeded 2 trillion yuan for the first time, a 7.1% increase from 2021, injecting new momentum into Chinasforeign tradedevelopment.
In recent years, Chinas cross-border e-commerce has developed rapidly, with its advantages and potential continuously released in buying globally and selling globally. More and more consumers worldwide are enjoying the wider choices and convenience brought by cross-border e-commerce.
According to China Customs statistics, in 2022, Chinas cross-border e-commerce import and export scale accounted for 4.9% of the total national goods trade import and export value, remaining stable compared to 2021. Among this, export scale reached 1.53 trillion yuan, a 10.1% increase, accounting for 6.4% of the national export value. Import scale was 527.8 billion yuan, a 0.8% decrease, accounting for 2.9% of the national import value. Among export destinations, the US market accounted for 34.3%, and the UK accounted for 6.5%. Among import sources, Japan accounted for 21.7% of Chinas cross-border e-commerce import value, and the US accounted for 17.9%.
Among export goods, consumer goods accounted for 92.8%, with apparel, footwear, and bags accounting for 33.1%, and electronics such as mobile phones accounting for 17.1%. Among import goods, consumer goods accounted for 98.3%, with cosmetics and personal care products accounting for 28.4%, and food and fresh products accounting for 14.7%.
This year, cross-border e-commerce has maintained its growth momentum. According to a Customs survey, over 70% of enterprises expect stable or growing cross-border e-commerce import and export in 2023, demonstrating the vast potential and bright prospects of Chinas cross-border e-commerce market.
