Indonesia has strict regulations and requirements regarding the import of used electronic products and lithium - ion batteries. Importers need to understand in detail and comply with the following procedures and regulations to ensure legal imports.
I. Import Procedures and License Application
(1) Producer Import License (API) First of all, importers need to apply for a Producer Import License (API) from the Indonesian Ministry of Trade. This is one of the necessary documents for importing used electronic products and lithium - ion batteries.
(2) Business License Next, importers need to obtain a business license for registered importers or production - type importers. This proves that the importer has the right to conduct import activities.
(3) Tax Permit Application After completing the above steps, importers also need to submit an application for a tax permit to the National Single Window System (SINSW) to complete all legal import procedures.
II. Regulations on the Import of Used Lithium - ion Batteries
Regulation No. 100/2020 at the end of 2020 According to Regulation No. 100/2020 issued by the Indonesian Ministry of Trade, the import of used lithium - ion batteries, except for those in the electric vehicle industry, is prohibited. This license is only issued to companies that need to import raw materials for production activities in Indonesia. Moreover, the imported used lithium - ion batteries must be directly used in the production process and are not allowed to be resold to third parties.
